Expression of Interest Bendigo Writers Festival BIG TOP Community Stage

Established in 2012, Bendigo Writers Festival celebrates and promotes the art of writing and storytelling. It brings together writers, readers, and thinkers from diverse backgrounds and genres in the heart of Bendigo, a UNESCO Creative City.

The festival features a range of events including panel discussions, keynote speakers, workshops, and book launches, which provide a platform for emerging and established writers to showcase their work, exchange ideas, and engage with audiences. With a focus on promoting literacy and lifelong learning, the Bendigo Writers Festival has become a highly anticipated event for locals and visitors alike, drawing in renowned authors and thinkers from Australia and around the world.

In 2024, the Bendigo Writers Festival is presenting a new pop-up venue in the Dudley House garden located in the heart of the festival precinct. This is an exciting opportunity for local emerging artists to be part of the festival on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 August 11am to 3pm. All activities in the BIG TOP will be free to attend. We invite local authors, storytellers, poets, and songwriters to submit a proposal for consideration.

Successful applicants will be paid $100 to present a 20-minute reading, dramatic presentation, music, discussion, or other text-based performance. A host & basic PA (2 mics, 2 DIs + playback) will be provided.
